Skechers Shape UpsRocker shoes are becoming very popular, from the advertisements in magazines to the numerous amount of people wearing them on the streets. In fact, if you saw the movie “The Joneses,” you may have noticed that Demi Moore wears a pair of MBT shoes in one scene. Beyond the overall design looking pretty strange, I found out that they actually do a lot of good for the body.

To start off, rocker shoes are known by many different names. If you’ve heard the term “toning shoes” or “shape shoes,” then you know we’re talking about the same thing. The bottom of the shoe looks like a “U” shape and curves up from the heel to the toe. When you walk, your foot actually rolls off of the ground so that it feels like you’re on sand. This process forces you to have good posture and, in turn, engages your core muscles because you are constantly maintaining your balance. As a result, you not only take pressure off the heels and balls of your feet, but you tone calf, butt and thigh muscles. (that’s the part I like!)

So now the question comes down to whether these shoes actually do what they say they will. Many people agree that they do. Reviews and people that I talk to say that it’s not at all uncommon to drop a pant size, but you have to wear the rocker shoes on a regular basis. Most seem to find that the butt and thighs receive the most toning, while others say that foot pain is drastically being relieved. I’m in!
